Bourbon 101

Local bourbon expert, Dr. Amanda Korth, will be conducting a bourbon tasting class at the Rails on 6/23/2026 @ 6pm - seats are limited to 25.

Come explore America’s spirit and learn what makes it a bourbon and all it’s different forms. Learn how to drink whiskey neat and appreciate the flavors. Covered in this class:

• How is bourbon made?

• What is a mashbill?

• Bourbon History - Why is prohibition so important?

• What is a single barrel?

• Beyond Kentucky - Can it still be called bourbon?

• Finishing Bourbon - Is it, or isn’t it a bourbon?

Attendees will sample four bourbons:

1. Penelope (wheated)

2. 1792 (small batch)

3. Blanton’s

4. Angel’s Envy (finishing bourbon)

After the class, attendees can receive ½ off a 1oz pour of the bourbon of their choice (excluding Stagg).
